    • Many pop fans turned to bands like the Hollies when The Beatles got too experimental
    • Nash left for less-commercially oriented pastures in 1968
    • Biggest hit in America came after Nash's departure, "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)" hit No. 2 in 1972
  • Led by lead singer Allan Clarke and singer/guitarist Graham Nash, the Hollies became one of the more commercially successful British Invasion bands by the mid-1960s. A staple of Nash's future group Crosby, Stills & Nash as well, the Hollies' trademarks were their three-part harmonies and infectious melodies, which were displayed to full effect on hits like "Carrie Ann," "Stop Stop Stop" and "On a Carousel."
