The Happening

The Happening is a 2008 thriller that is directed by M. Night Shyamalan an stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel. In the film, a mysterious pandemic strikes on a widescale level, and the entire planet is put in jeopardy. Mark Wahlberg plays Elliot Moore, a man who is forced to take his family on the run in order to survive. His wife, Alma Moore, is played by Zooey Deschanel.

The film was originally entitled The Green Effect, and like all other Shyamalan projects, was shot in the Philadelphia area.

The Happenning was written by Shyamalan, produced by Shyamalan, Barry Mendel and Sam Mercer, and distributed by 20th Century Fox.
