The Guy Not Taken

Jennifer Weiner's The Guy Not Taken is a collection of eleven fictional "chick lit" short stories. The novel reads like a sequence of studies, and it was written over a fifteen year time period.

The novel is comprised of eleven individual stories that tackle the relationship issues of women in their thirties. In each story, the women are often come from broken homes and have father issues. Weiner juxtaposes the way the women were brought up and their current relationship troubles.

Critics were quicker to judge the general genre of chick lit verses the actual book itself.
