  • The Great Wall of China is a stone fortification located in China that was originally built as a way to keep Mongol tribes from invading the country. The wall stretches from Shanhaiguan to Lop Nur and runs roughly the entire length of China's border with Mongolia. The wall also includes a number of watchtowers and barracks that were used by Chinese soldiers who were charged with guarding the wall. Today, the wall is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.
