The Great Buck Howard is a 2009 comedic drama film directed by Sean McGinly.
The Great Buck Howard Synopsis
The Great Buck Howard tells the tale of a washed-up magician, played by John Malkovich and his new assistant named Troy, played by Colin Hanks. The unlikely pair attempt to resurrect the magician's once successful but now fading career. Things are complicated by the fact that Buck Howard is seemingly unaware that his career has faded and he has an uncanny knack of saying inappropriate and awkward things in public. His unfortunate behavior and out-of-touch act keep him relegated to the b-list celebrity circuit. Not helping matters is that Troy's father, played by Tom Hanks, is pressuring his son to pursue a more legitimate and stable profession. But then the performance of an amazing trick by Buck Howard lands him in the A-list spotlight again and it's up to his new assistant to try to keep him there, in spite of Buck Howard's larger than life personality.
