By the time the all-girl group the Go-Go's were burning up the Billboard charts in the early 1980s they were a full-fledged pop act, but their foundations were laid in the California punk rock scene.
Known for partying as hard as the boys they were touring with, vocalist Belinda Carlisle, guitarist Jane Wiedlin, guitarist Charlotte Caffey, bassist Kathy Valentine and drummer Gina Schock reached the pinnacle of their success with 1982's No. 2 hit "We Got the Beat."
