The Game

The Game is a popular rapper from Compton, California. A former gangbanger, in 2001 Jayceon "The Game" Taylor was shot five times and spent 3 days in a coma. While recovering he turned to old school rap and decided to make a living in the medium. The Game's unique delivery caught the ear of Dr. Dre, who signed him to Aftermath in 2003 and executive produced his debut. After being delayed a few times his debut, The Documentary dropped in January 2005. The album was certified platinum twice and it was the tenth best-selling record of 2005. Shortly after beginning to work with 50 Cent a feud broke out among the two rappers over The Game's reluctance to participate in the G-Unit's many rivalries. Due to this dispute, The Game left Aftermath Records and signed with Geffen Records in 2006.
