The Flash is a fictional super hero and the star of a comic book published by DC Comics. The Flash is considered by some as the first super hero of the Silver Age of comic books, and thus the first contemporary super hero. The Flash is one of DC's most popular characters, appearing in films, television shows, and cartoons in addition to the comic books that bear his name.
Fastest Man on Earth?
Although The Flash is certainly among the fastest men on earth in the DC Universe, a question has persisted among comic book aficionados for years: can The Flash outrun Superman? The question is legitimate; Superman is, after all, "faster than a speeding bullet." While on overall power it is no contest, the two heroes have raced several times in the comic books and in other media. The question is never completely settled, as some emergency or distraction always interrupts the race and prevents a solid answer from being delivered. Nonetheless, The Flash's speed allows him to do several things Superman cannot, such as vibrate so quickly that he can pass through solid matter and make his heart beat so fast that it appears to be lifeless to a cardiograph machine.
