Films includeThe Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. A fourth installment, Fast and Furious, is scheduled for release in the summer of 2009.

The first, second, and fourth installments of the film are linked by Paul Walker's character, former Los Angeles police office Brian O'Conner, and crime-driven plots set in Los Angeles and Miami. The third installment, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, features an unrelated teen coming-of-age plot set in Tokyo, Japan.

The first film in the Fast and the Furious film series was loosely based on a May, 1998 Vibe magazine article by Ken Li, Racer X. Thanks to this, Li shares writing credit for The Fast and the Furious, but has not been involved with subsequent films in the series.
