  • This 1930 silent comedy is one of Alfred Hitchcock's earliest works. The movie stars Jameson Thomas as a cantankerous older man looking for a suitable second wife. It was not among Hitchcock's favorites of his many films.

    In The Farmer's Wife, widower and farmer Samuel Sweetland, played by Jameson Thomas, having just had his only daughter marry, decides to seek a new wife.
