The Fabulous Moolah was a female professional wrestler for the WWE.
Career
The Fabulous Moolah won the NWA Women's Championship in a 1956 battle royal, and that title was sold to the WWE in 1983 when Moolah agreed to appear exclusively for the company. Any title changes between that time are not recognized by the WWE at the present time.
Moolah was thereby the first WWE Women's Champion, and despite losing the title four times between 1956 and 1983, she is credited by the company for having the longest uninterrupted reign of any wrestling champion at nearly 30 years.
When the WWE went mainstream in the 1980s, Moolah lost the title to Wendi Richter in 1984, and again to Sherri Martel in 1987. She retired from full-time wrestling shortly thereafter.
Moolah was the first female inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame in 1995.
Personal Life
Moolah had one daughter, Mary, with her first husband, Walter Carroll when Moolah was 14.
She wrote her autobiography, The Fabulous Moolah: First Goddess of the Squared Circle in 2002, and made frequent appearances on WWE programming with Mae Young from 1999 until her death on November 2, 2007 at age 84.
