The Everly Brothers is a musical duo, comprised of brothers Don Everly and Phil Everly. The duo had its peak chart success during the late 1950s, but left a lasting influence, fleshing out a country and rock n' roll-flavored sound that highlighted catchy, harmony-laden songs.
The Everly Brothers planned a concert at the Knott's Berry Farm on July 14, 1973 to be their last. During the concert Phil Everly stormed offstage after smashing his guitar, and his brother Don announced "The Everly Brothers died ten years ago." Don finished the concert, and the brothers would not speak to each other for 10 years. They reunited in 1983 and continue to tour today, despite not having released any new material since Some Hearts in 1989.
