The Eagles

The Eagles are one of the most successful country/rock bands in history, having sold over 80 Million albums throughout their career. Originally formed as the backing band for singer Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles decided to go out on their own and eventually signed with David Geffen's newly created Asylum Records. The original band was made up of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1972, produced the band's first hit song Take it Easy, as well as the songs Witchy Woman and Peaceful Easy Feeling. All three songs were Top 40 singles, with Witchy Woman topping out at #9.

The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and have, over their career, won 6 Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year in 1977 for Hotel California.

Band Members

Desperado

The Eagles second studio album was named Desperado. Themed on the Old West, the band hoped to draw a parallel between the lives of modern rock stars and the outlaws cowboys of years gone by. The album also saw a major shift in the interplay between the band members. Don Henley and Glenn Frey began writing songs with each other, accounting for 8 of the 11 songs on the album, and overshadowing the contributions of Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner. While the album didn't achieve the same kind of success that The Eagles would come to expect, it produced two of their most popular songs in Tequila Sunrise and Desperado, and established the duo that would produce most of the band's future hits.

Reunion - Hell Freezes Over

After a 14 year hiatus, the original members of the band reunited for a reunion tour, which they then released as an album titled Hell Freezes Over. Well it did, and the tour and album were major successes; the tour lasted three year, and sales in the United States reached over 6 million.
