  • Career

After singer Leila Moss and guitarist Luke Ford met while attending a Cheltenham Art college, the two decided to form a band and convinced bassist Toby Butler to join. Initially playing as Solomon, the group had filled out its roster and changed its name to The Duke Spirit by 2003. They recorded their first album Cuts Across the Land]' in 2004 with the City Rockers record label. The label ran into financial trouble and it seemed for a time that the album would not be released. Eventually the album was released by Loog Records/Polydor. The Band Spent a great deal of time touring between 2005 and 2007, releasing a few EPs in that time. They went back to the studio to record their second full album Neptune in 2007.
