The Dreamers is a drama film released in 2003 directed by Bernardo Bertolucci that was based on Gilbert Adair's 1988 novel, The Holy Innocents. The movie is about an American exchange student who becomes involved in an intimate relationship with a set of twins in Paris during the 1960s. The movie was rated NC-17 for its stylized but graphically sexual content.
Plot
Set against the backdrop of the 1968 student riots in Paris, France, an American exchange student named Matthew (Michael Pitt) makes friends with two formerly-conjoined twins, Isabelle (Eva Green) and Théo (Louis Garrel). After initially bonding over their shared love of classic movies, Michael quickly falls into an intimate love affair with both Isabelle and Théo.
