  • Background

The Doors emerged from California's psychedelic rock scene in 1967. Led by front-man Jim Morrison, The Doors released six studio albums. Morrison was known as much for his music as he was for his unpredictable behavior on stage and off. In 1971, Jim Morrison was found dead in his Paris apartment. He was 27 years old. The surviving band members continued on without him, releasing two more albums with Ray Manzarek on vocals. The band finally broke up in 1973. In 2002, Manzarek and guitarist Robbie Krieger reformed as The Doors of the 21st Century. They were sued by drummer John Densmore and the Morrison estate.
