  • Review Quote

    • "In the right vehicle, Speed or the first Matrix Reeves brings an otherworldly serenity under pressure to the material at hand. Here, though, you wonder: Did Reeves and director Scott Derrickson ever consider not going the obvious route with this fellow? In the Wise version, Michael Rennie's Klaatu was deceptively human, a cultured, sophisticated thinker. He was better than human. Reeves, by contrast, portrays Klaatu like an actor playing a being from another world, with robotic line readings and an impassive air. It's a logical approach, but one with little spark or surprise."—Chicago TribuneChicago Tribune: The Day the Earth Stood Still Rating: 2 stars (fair) (December 12, 2008)
