The Cotton Club is a crime drama written by Francis Ford Coppola and William Kennedy and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It was released on December 14, 1984. The movie stars Richard Gere as cornet player Dixie Dwyer, and Diane Lane as the mistress of gangster Dutch Schultz, played by James Remar . It is set in nightclubs during the 1920s and 1930s. The Cotton Club grossed over $25 million at the box office.

Plot Synopsis
The Cotton Club tells the story of several characters in the nightclub scene during the 1920s and 1930s. Richard Gere plays cornet played Dixie Dwyer, who looks for a career as an actor in gangster films. Gangster Dutch Shultz's mistress Vera Cicero, played by Diane Lane, falls in love with Dixie. Gregory Hines plays tap dancer Sandman Williams, who is in love with singer Lila Rose Oliver, played by Lonette McKee. Bob Hoskins plays Cotton Club mob owner Owney Madden and Fred Gwynne and Nicolas Cage play his associates. -
