The Conscience of Nhem En is an documentary centering around a photographer, Nhem En, who photographed thousands of Cambodian prisoners before they were killed. Over 17,000 men, women and children were captured and killed in Cambodia between 1975-1979 during the reign of Khmer Rouge. Three of the remaining eight survivors tell their stories in addition to the photographer. The film was nominated for the Best Documentary Short Oscar in 2009, but the award went to Smile Pinki.
