The Condemned is a 2007 film about a select group of the world's most dangerous prison inmates that are dropped off on a remote island together for a new reality television show. The film stars professional wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones. Austin plays dangerous convict Jack Conrad. The convicts are given a chance to win back their freedom by participating in a kill or be killed battle that is to be filmed and broadcast over the internet.
Reception
The Condemned received several negative reviews and was a failure at the box office. The movie lasted only four weeks in theaters and earned a total of $7.4 million. The budget for the film was $20 million. WWE owner and film producer Vince McMahon blamed the movie's failure on Lionsgate, saying they did not properly market the film. However, the movie did see some success when it was released on DVD and Blu-Ray.
