The Citadel is a public four year institution of higher learning. It is also referred to as The Military College of South Carolina.
History
The South Carolina military academy was established in 1842. The name of the institution was changed to the Citadel in 1910. The campus moved to its current location in 1922.Citadel.edu: Brief History
