  • The Burning Plain Synopsis

The Burning Plain is a dramatic film about an estranged family trying to make amends. The movie's plot concerns a multi-generational story where a mother and wife named Gina, played by Kim Basinger, finds comfort in the arms of a extra-marital lover, played by Joaquim de Almeida. The situation starts a chain of events that lead to tragic consequences. The film also explores the ramifications of those past events which have profoundly affected her now adult daughter Sylvia, played by Charlize Theron. In the aftermath of those traumatic circumstances of her youth, Sylvia is left searching for momentary relief of emotional anguish by engaging in meaningless sex and self mutilation.
