The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Categories: Entertainment | Music | Indie | Rock
  • The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a psychedelic rock band led by mercurial singer-songwriter Anton Newcombe. Although the band plays their own unique brand of rock, they are most closely influenced by the neo-psychedelic experiments of The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Bob Dylan. While the band has gone through numerous lineup changes during their career, Newcombe is the only member to have participated in all of the band's albums. Newcombe's erratic, and often destructive, behavior has been a problem for the band since its inception and was chronicled in the 2004 Documentary [[DIG!]].

The 2004 Documentary [[DIG!]] chronicles a few years in the lives and careers of the band's The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. The film documents Newcombe's destructive behavior, drug habit, and inability to conform to his record label's demands. While Newcombe has denounced the film, it went on to be a critical success and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
