The Black Crowes are an American, blues-based Southern rock band founded by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson in 1989. They are listed as No. 92 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
Background
The Black Crowes formed in Atlanta in 1984. Their first album, Shake Your Money Maker, was released in 1990 and became a hit thanks to "She Talks to Angels," their cover of "Hard to Handle," and other popular singles. Their follow up album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, was also a multi-platinum hit. The Crowes built a large fan base with constant touring and released several more albums before taking a break in 2002 that lasted until 2005.
In 2008, the band made headlines when Maxim magazine printed a critical review of their album Warpaint before they'd more than one song from the album.
