The BIGS

The BIGS features high-energy baseball with faster gameplay than traditional games as well as exaggerated, larger than life players and stadiums. The game can be compared as the baseball version of NBA Jam. The game does not focus on the mechanical parts of the game of baseball, rather it focuses on providing an entertainment type atmosphere, giving players power-ups and turbo effects. The next-generation consoles support online play of up to four players, but the Wii does not have that feature. St. Louis Cardinals infielder Albert Pujols is featured on the cover. San Francisco sports talk show host Damon Bruce provides play-by-play commentary. Some versions of the game received above-average praise from video game critics. The Nintendo Wii version received an average score.

Among the modes in the game are Roster Management, Home Run Derby, Home Run Pinball and Rookie Challenge. In Home Run Pinball, players choose a character and stand in the middle of Time Square New York. The player tries to hit balls into the neon signs and windows in order to score as many points as possible. Rookie Challenge is the main mode of the game. A player tries out for a Major League team, make the roster and leads the team to the World Series and a possible most valuable player award. Throughout the season, players unlock features such as a nickname and bat specifics. The player also goes through several challenges, such as completing a ninth-inning comeback, or specific fielding drills.
