The B-52s are a Rock band from Athens, Georgia that made it big in the 1970s and 80s with their unique brand of Pop, New Wave and Rock. As the self-described "World's Greatest Party Band", the group's first hit was the 1978 single "Rock Lobster" - which gained them a significant amount of underground success in the New York City club scene. The B52's had a monster hit in 1988 with the song "Love Shack" off the album Cosmic Thing. After a 15 year hiatus, the band recently returned to the studio to release the 2008 album Funplex.
