The Argentine is the first film of Steven Soderbergh's Che series, a two-part biopic of Ernesto "Che" Guevara. The Argentine chronicles Guevara in the 1950s when he met Fidel Castro, and embarked on a "successful insurgency" to overthrow Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista. The second part of Che, Guerrilla, follows Guevara through his failed Bolivian campaign, which led to his execution. The New York Times: Soderbergh and Che, Provocateurs (May 23, 2008)
