• Although inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, the British Invasion band the Animals are still relatively underappreciated in terms of their contribution to rock 'n' roll history—especially in relation to their early Invasion brethren The Rolling Stones. Frontman Eric Burdon and company had a No. 1 hit with their signature tune "The House of the Rising Sun" in 1964.
