  • On the fourth episode of the 13th season of The Amazing Race, teams made their way from La Paz, Bolivia to Auckland, New Zealand. Starr Spangler was injured after losing control of her road wind sail buggy, but managed to pull together and finish the leg of the race.   • The Amazing Race 13 Episode 4

    • Eight teams remain, who will be eliminated next?
    • Teams are resting in La Paz, Bolivia. Kelly and Christy told Nick and Starr that they will not be nice to them after they asked Ty and Aja to U-turn them. Things might get crazy.
    • Ken and Tina will depart first, they must fly to Auckland, New Zealand then drive themselves to the Gulf Harbour and successfully untie an huge knot (sorry, I can't pronounce the name of it, much less transcribe it) to receive their next clue.
    • Keen feels they are being much better caretakers of each other.
    • Toni and Dallas are the next to leave, he thinks she finally sees him as an adult.
    • Ken and Tina hop on the internet at the airport to find which flight is the fastest.
    • Terence and Sarah, Marisa and Brooke, Aja and Ty are the next to leave.
    • Nick and Starr, Andrew and Dan leave next.
    • Sarah thinks they have gotten in a good groove with their relationship.
    • Marisa and Brooke think they will keep moving on up.
    • Aja thinks that every minute of the race has been exhausting and points out that there is a fine line of pushing someone and pushing someone over the edge.
    • Dan admits to having a problem of taking over too much.
    • Christy and Kelly are the last to leave for the airport.
    • Sarah asks someone at the airport to use their personal laptop to access the internet, he agrees. Andrew and Dan do the same. Andrew and Dan share the flight number with Marisa and Dan.
    • Kelly and Christy think they got the good deal arriving last, everyone else did the legwork already.
    • Aya wants her and Ty to take a different flight than everyone else and "Do our own thing." He's not too sure of her plan and is getting frustrated with her attitude. He says "OK leader, OK Fidel Castro."
    • Everyone ended up getting tickets for the same flight.
    • It's a mad dash to find the cars with the flags. Sarah and Terence are the first on the road, followed by Andrew and Dan then Ken and Tina. Marisa and Brooke are in last place.
    • Ken and Tina passed Andrew and Dan. Nick and Starr stop and ask directions. Marisa and Brooke stop and ask also.
    • Terence and Sarah can't agree on which way to go, they may have taken the wrong way.
    • Ty has a flat tire!! Dallas is concerned as he drives by, Nick laughs.
    • Aja is screaming on the side of the road asking for help, guess Ty didn't know how to change a tire by himself.
    • Ken and Tina are the first to the knots, with Sarah/Terrence and Andrew/Dan close behind.
    • Ken/Tina and Andrew/Dan are the first to get their knot undone and find out they must travel to the summit of Mount Eden, a dormant volcano.
    • This is the first of only two fast forwards in the game. The first team to complete the fast forward can skip all the clues and challenges and go directly to the pit stop. In this fast forward, teams must go to the skytower and climb the workers' ladder to the top. (It's the tallest building in New Zealand.) Once they reach the top, they must pick up a friend. (I have no clue what that means, to pick up a friend.)
    • Ken and Tina are going for the fast forward with Andrew and Dan on their tails.
    • Everyone else chooses to go find the next clue.
    • Andrew and Dan get to the parking lot and see that Ken and Tina are already there. They decide to go back and let Tina and Ken do the fast forward.
    • Marisa and Brooke are still last, even with Ty's flat tire.
    • Next up, a roadblock. Only one member of the team can perform a roadblock. In this task, the team member must be immersed in the local culture. They will choose an image with a tattoo and pick a warrior with the same tattoo. If they are wrong, the warrior will take the image and the person will have to start with a new image. Oh, and it's dark.
    • Terence fails on his first try.
    • Ken and Tina are ready to climb, words can't describe how scary it looks!
    • Terence takes his second guess and is correct. They must now drive to the City Life Hotel where their next clue will be on the roof.
    • Tina looks like she is going to barf as she climbs the ladder.
    • Toni is now doing the tattoo thing, the sun has risen. Dallas is worried that the warriors will eat his mom.
    • Toni gets it on her first try.
    • Terence and Sarah reach the hotel roof. From the roof, they must use binoculars to spot little Travelocity gnomes, attached to each gnome is a clue. (Boy, this sure makes it harder and harder for each team that arrives after them.)
    • The ladder Tina is on is now swaying, she's starting to freak.
    • Marisa and Brooke are just now at the marina looking for their knot.
    • Kelly and Christy are running up to the summit, Andrew and Dan pass them in the car.
    • Ken found the friend! It's a Travelocity gnome! He's giving her a lot of encouragement.
    • Kelly/Christy and Andrew/Dan are doing the tattoo thing. Kelly and Christy get it right first, they go running back down the hill.
    • Andrew's warrior bumped noses with him in a gesture of kindness after he got it right!
    • Terence and Sarah have spotted their gnome and are on their way to capture it.
    • Toni and Dallas have spotted their gnome.
    • Ken and Tina will take a helicopter ride to the pit stop in Summerhill.
    • Terence has led Sarah in the wrong direction while trying to find their gnome, but barely beat Toni and Dallas to remain in second place. Teams must now drive to Kiwi360 to find their next clue.
    • Nick and Starr are finally at the tattoo warrior place. She got it wrong and must start again.
    • Andrew and Dan find their gnome. Christy and Kelly are looking for theirs.
    • Nick and Starr passed Christy and Kelly as they found their gnome quicker.
    • Aja and Ty got the tattoo matched and are on their way to the hotel.
    • Marisa and Brooke are with the warriors. Kelly and Christy just found their gnome.
    • Ken and Tina arrive first at the pit stop, it's in the most beautiful green hills ever! They won a seven night trip to Rio during Carnival! They are greeted by Phil's dad!
    • Detour! In "Matter of Time" teams must crush enough kiwi's with their feet to make 12 quarts of juice, then drink a full glass of it to receive their next clue. In "Matter of Skill" teams must assemble blow carts and drive three laps around the track to receive their next clue. (It looks like a go-cart with a sail.)
    • Terence and Sarah go for the kiwi. The buckets are lined with rocks and Sarah is not happy.
    • Marisa and Brooke just found their gnome.
    • Ty and Aja might be lost.
    • Toni says "This looked so much more fun when Lucy and Ethel did it." (I Love Lucy!)
    • Terence and Sarah get the kiwi juice and are on their way to the pit stop. Toni and Dallas decide to stop crushing kiwi and do the other detour.
    • Terence and Sarah are team number two to arrive.
    • Nick and Starr choose the fruit, followed by Kelly and Christy.
    • Andrew and Dan are whining because the rocks at the bottom of the kiwi bucket. They decide to leave. Nick and Starr leave also.
    • Kelly and Christy are having a blast with the kiwi!
    • Toni and Dallas get their blow carts together quickly, but she's having a hard time maneuvering it.
    • Kelly and Christy complete the kiwi challenge and are on their way to the pit stop. Toni and Dallas finished their laps and are also on their way!
    • Andrew and Dan are getting frustrated because they are not mechanically inclined.
    • Starr crashed on the blowcart.
    • Ty and Aja are smashing kiwi.
    • Kelly and Christy are team number three to arrive.
    • Starr crashed again, she's crying and thinks she broke her arm.

    • Toni and Dallas are team number four to arrive at the pit stop.
    • Starr finishes the race, but she's still in tears. Starr has a nice sized gash on the thumb section of her palm.
    • Ty and Aja stop with the kiwi and go to the blow-carts.
    • Nick and Starr are team number five to arrive at the pit stop.
    • Andrew and Dan are team number six to arrive at the pit stop. Andrew falls to the floor with excitement as they get their number.
    • Aja and Ty are working well together as they build the carts!
    • Marisa and Brooke are smashing fruit, but are not liking it.
    • Aja and Ty are having trouble getting their carts perfect. After a few inspections, they finally get the carts on the track.
    • Marisa and Brooke are drinking the juice just as Aja and Ty finish the carts!
    • Aja and Ty are the seventh team to arrive.
    • Marisa and Brooke are the last team to arrive. (They are in tears before Phil even speaks.) They have been eliminated from the race. Phil's dad hugs them both.
    • Next week we will get to see Terence get pulled over by the police! Also, Kelly and Christy get on people's nerves, especially Dallas. I can't wait!
