The Allman Brothers Band is an influential and long-running Southern Rock band from Macon, Georgia that have released 18 albums over their 40 year career. Known for the dueling lead guitar playing of Dickey Betts and Duane Allman, the band released it's self-titled debut in 1969 to critical acclaim. Since then, there have been several line-up changes. Guitarist Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident in 1971 and shortly after bassist Berry Oakley lost his life in a motorcycle accident as well. The band continues to tour and record new material.
Gregg Allman was recently the victim of a burglary after two robbers broke into his Richmond Hill, Georgia home on December 27, 2008. The thieves made off with knives, guns, a coin collection and various other souvenirs. Within 48 hours the police had captured the burglars and recovered most of the stolen items.
