The Abbey is a point and click action-adventure game for the PC. Developed by European companies Alcacho Soft and GamersGate, the game will be published by German publisher Crimson Cow.
Game Characters and Setting
In The Abbey, you take on the role of a private detective who is investigating a murder at an old abbey. The game takes place in the middle ages, and as such will feature rich textures and characters that will be reflecting this specific time period. Features of the game show historic accuracies that will make the game even more engrossing with the middle age motif on architecture and environments of this particular time period.
Game Controls
While information on the controls for The Abbey are sketchy at this time, it is apparent that the game will be a point-and-click game reminiscent of such classics as Roberta Robert's King's Quest, Space Quest, and Neverwinter Nights. The idea behind this sort of game is to let the mouse do most of the work, or in the case of The Abbey looking for clues in similar fashion to Nintendo DS puzzle game, Professor Layton and the Curious Village. A point-and-click adventure gives the user more of an open-ended design and does not necessarily require quick action. Its focus is more on investigating areas and exploring your environment.
