Born in Switzerland to a South African father and French mother, Thabo Sefolosha began his professional basketball career at the age of 17, when he joined the Tege Riviera team of the LNA for the 2001-2002 season. From 2002 through 2005, Sefolosha switched to neighboring France, where he played with Shalon-sur-Saone, part of the premier French pro league. Although he was an early entry candidate for the 2005 NBA draft, he decided in the end to withdraw from those sweepstakes and instead was picked the following year by the Philadelphia 76ers. The 2009-2010 campaign marked Sefolosha's first full season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. As such, on the basis of an average of 28.4 minutes per game as a starter, the 6-7 215-pound guard-forward posted seasonal medians of 5.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Sefolosha split the 2008-2009 season between the Chicago Bulls and the Oklahoma City Thunder. For the Bulls, he played 43 games, 14 as a starter, and scored a total of 194 points. Evidently, the mid-season trade from Chicago to Oklahoma benefited the Swiss national, as he was able to scoare 195 points for the Thunder over the span of half as many games (23 total,. 22 as a starter). Sefolosha is a solid free throw shooter, holding steady across the Chicago-Oklahoma divide with an 83.3% and 84% average from the charity stripe.
After being traded from Chicago to Oklahoma, Sefolosha faced his old Bull teammates on March 16th, 2009, He responded with an effort that included a career-high four blocked shots.
