Perry said when when Texas joined the union in 1845 they would be able to leave if they chose to do so. However, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission reveals that the actual negotiations allows for Texas to divide into four states if it want to but it cannot completely secede from the union.Huffington Post: Gov.
