Texas Christian University is investigating a Kappa Sigma fraternity branding incident where sophomore Amon G. "Chance" Carter IV suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his buttocks. Carter said he was branded with a heated coat hanger in early January 1010. The incident took place in Breckenridge, Colorado, during a ski trip. The fellow fraternity member who allegedly helped carry out the branding supposedly has a video of the incident in his possession and planned to upload it to YouTube according to WFAA News 8. Carter IV is the is the great-grandson of the founder of the Texas publication, The Star Telegram. The Texas Christian University was conducting an investigation. A spokes person for the University said the school's policy "prohibits harming another student, which would obviously include branding." An official with the Kappa Sigma Fraternity said that "this type of behavior" is not tolorated. Part of the hazing required him to binge drink. After he passed out, he was dragged up a flight of stairs where his fraternity brothers drew on his face with a marker and abandoned him.
