Tent camping is an outdoor recreational activity that involves the use of a tent for shelter while camping in a national or state park, privately-owned camping facility or one's own backyard.
Tent Camping Tips
- Arrive at your campsite before nightfall to avoid having to set up the tent in the dark.
- Partially unzip the upper window of your tent to remove unwanted moisture from the tent.
- Bring extra tent poles in case of breakage.
- Bring a tarp or ground cloth to help the cold from seeping up into the tent and sleeping bags.
- Try setting up your tent at home before you reach the campsite so you are familiar with the setup.
- Bring a rug to avoid tracking dirt into the tent.
- Put your rain flap on your tent before it rains as you never know when it may rain. It will also help with heavy dew.
- Keep things on the inside from touching the sides of the tent to avoid moisture building up in that area.
- Bring a light for your tent. Battery powered lanterns are safest for inside the tent.
