Television is an American rock band from New York City that formed during the early days of the punk scene. Although they were often considered a punk band, the group's unique take on songwriting and their use of interlocking guitar melodies helped elevate their music above the three-chord rock songs that characterized most punk bands of the day. Their debut album Marquee Moon is considered by many to be a classic of the era. While still technically active, the band members usually spend more time on their solo projects.
