Television (TV) is both a device and a communications medium for transmitting video and audio. Television provides media in the form of shows or movies, which compose every possible genre, fiction and non-fiction. In the U.S. in 2008, the three most popular genres were sports, news, and "reality tv".

Television has become a worldwide phenomenon, enjoyed at least once by more than half of the world's population. The average American is exposed to about 4 hours of television a day.

  • LCD vs Plasma

LCD: Lower electrical consumption, generally less screen reflectivity. Generally brighter screens than plasma, and more suited to viewing in bright rooms.

Plasma: Generally better viewing angle, richness of colors, and deeper blacks. Older plasma screens can suffer from screen burn-in.
