The Telectroscope is an optical device that connects the cities of London and New York. The unusual display was set up by a conceptual artist, Paul St George of London. He says that the machine was an invention of his great-grandfather who lived in the Victorian era.
The story goes that George's great-grandfather abandoned plans for building an underground tunnel spanning between the cities that would allow people on either end to wave at each other. The plans consisted of using giant mirrors.
One end of the Telectroscope is at the Fulton Ferry Landing in Brooklyn, New York and the other is on the Thames River in London.
