Ted Kennedy Brain Surgery

  • On Monday, June 2, 2008, Senator Edward Kennedy underwent brain surgery to treat the malignant brain tumor he was diagnosed with in mid-May.

    Much of the tumor was cut away during the surgery, and his doctor reported the procedure was successful and it "accomplished our goals".

    The surgery will be followed by a course of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

  • Surgery Details

    Kennedy's surgery was performed at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. He is expected to stay there for one week while he recovers.

    Kennedy will then return to Massachusetts where he will begin further treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital.
