  • Ted Johnson and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy

    Johnson is one of almost 100 professional football players who have asked that their brains be studied after their deaths, to discover evidence of the brain injury known as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).

    CTE symptoms include depression and mental fatigue; autopsies have discovered that the brains of ex-football players in their thirties and forties are similar to people with Alzheimer's Disease in their 80s.

    Johnson suffered over 100 concussions over the course of his 11-year career.
