  • Buying Guide

Tea kettles come in a variety of styles and sizes. The most common tea kettle in the United States is the Stovetop Kettle. The durable steel or plastic kettle sits on top of the stove and heating device until it reaches a boiling point. A whistle is usually attached to the spout to signal when the water is boiling. The Electronic Tea Kettle variety uses a small heating device attached either by cord or on a separate heating base. These are especially attractive for people in a travel situation with no access to a stove, or in situations when limited space is a factor. The oldest and possibly least used form of kettle in the modern era is the Open Flame Kettle. Usually reserved for outdoor situations, the kettle works in the primitive process of resting over an open flame until water is boiled.
