  • Actress Tatum O'Neal was arrested for allegedly buying cocaine at approximately 7:40 pm on Sunday, June 1, 2008 in Manhattan.

    O'Neal was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance which is a misdemeanor. Police say that they saw her handing money to a street dealer near her apartment.

    O'Neal was released on June 2, 2008 after entering a no plea deal. She was released without bail. Her court date was set for July 28 , 2008.

  • Struggle With Sobriety

    In 2004, O'Neal penned her autobiography A Paper Life where she reflects on her troubled childhood, rocky relationships and struggles with drug addiction.

    In the book she reveals that her heroin addiction was the reason she lost custody of her children to her ex-husband John McEnroe.

    She also claimed that her parents were to blame for a tortured childhood as her mother was an alcoholic and her father abused her. The last chapter was focuses on her recovery.

  • Charge Details

    According to the Associated Press, O'Neal was found with two bags of cocaine in her pockets. Originally it was reported to be crack, but police later clarified that is was cocaine.
