Tarsem is an Indian film, commercial, and music video director best known for directing R.E.M.'s hit video "Losing My Religion", which won best video of the year at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards. He has also directed videos for such musicians as En Vogue, Vanessa Paradis, Suzanne Vega, and Deep Forest. A graduate of the renowned Pasadena Art Center College of Design, he is known for his stylistic approach to directing, which he put to use in the 2000 film The Cell.
