Tarragon

Tarragon is a common kitchen herb reminiscent of anise, and it is used commonly in French cooking. The presence of estragole in both tarragon and anise is why they have similar aromas.

A perennial plant, tarragon is primarily cultivated for culinary purposes. In general, French tarragon is considered top-notch, while Russian tarragon is weaker in flavor. However, the French variety cannot be grown from seed, while the Russian variety can.
