Guide Note:
Tarot is a set of 78 cards used primarily for purposes of divination, or fortune-telling.It has been my experience that tarot cards all have a generalized meaning and that as we are all individuals, what one card means for one person will vary considerably for another.
Many people are afraid of the tarot because of many of the images produced on them. You must take great care when reading the tarot for someone because if certain cards such as Death and The Devil someone will almost immediately put up walls out of fear. Be sure you study several different decks and their books at great length. You will learn from this that there are many factors that come up...
For some it is the death of a relationship that has long time been failing, for others it is a death of the old self and birthing of a new.
The Devil does not mean Satan is following you or that you or your loved ones are possessed. It rather the bondage that many of us place on ourselves with work, love and the like.
If you are just getting your feet wet, you may enjoy the Osho Zen Tarot. They work primarily off of emotional and spiritual outlook of the individual. They are a refreshing approach to the standard and I feel really accentuate what is going on in a reading accurately. Not to mention they have beautiful artwork on them.
I have also used these cards myself in addition with other decks during readings.
If you go to pick a deck, pray on it first. Don't just pick one certain one because Billy Bob and Jo Sue have them. Pick what you "feel" are right for you and for the people that you will encounter.
I personally do not use tarot cards anymore as I really don't need them. I am a clairvoyant among other things, and primarily channel God and Christ as well as angels.
In closing keep in mind tarot cards are only meant to be used as "windows" of opportunity and should not be taken literally.
Namaste,
Zhevah "Agape Psychics"

Brief Overview
The first tarot cards seem to have appeared in the 15th century in northern Italy, and there appears to be a relationship between the origins of tarot cards and playing cards. Tarot cards did not gain their association with mysticism and divination until the 18th or 19th century. One of the first people to bring wide reaching attention to the fortune telling aspect of tarot cards was a French occult follower named Alliette. He fashioned the cards with supposedly Egyptian influenced themes, and put divination related text on his cards.
Eliphas Levi helped to bring tarot into the English speaking world, and some believe that he is the real originator of the modern tarot reading system. Today, a deck devised by Arthur Edward Waite called the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot has caught popularity with the general public who purchase tarot.
