  • Target is the second largest discount retailer in the United States after Wal-Mart.

On June 15, 2009, California Attorney General Jerry Brown filed a lawsuit against Target for allegedly dumping hazardous waste. The suit, which Brown filed along with 21 local officials from around the state, claims that 200 Target stores have made a nearly decade-long practice of dumping hazardous canisters and spray cleaners in landfills.http://www.salon.com/wires/ap/business/2009/06/15/D98REUC82_us_target_dumping_lawsuit/index.html
