The winner will face the winner of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim vs. Boston Red Sox series for the 2008 American League Championship.

In the 2008 ALDS, the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Chicago White Sox in four games. The Rays won the first two games at home, lost game 3 in Chicago and then finished off the White Sox in game 4. The Rays will now face the Red Sox in the ALCS.MLB.com: ALDS Wrap
