• Creation

  The holiday's founders have claimed that the the idea for the Talk Like a Pirate Day came as the result of a sports injury sustained on June 6, 1995. Baur and Summers were playing raqcuetball when one of them strained a muscle and exclaimed "Aaarrr!"BeyondInvestigation: Talk Like a Pirate Day show (September 19, 2007) The two decided not to celebrate the holiday on June 6th out of respect for D Day, and instead chose the birthday of Summer's ex-wife.
