  • Tales of Vesperia Battle System

In Tales of Vesperia, there are no random encounters, since enemies can be seen in the game world and avoided or engaged in combat as the player sees fit. Transitions from the main game world to the battle arena occur with almost no load times. Although battles take place in real-time, the game can be paused to use items, switch around characters or just take a breather.

Within the battle arena, the player commands one character while the game's AI controls the rest of the party. Or three friends can grab some extra controllers and join in the fray. The AI in Tales of Vesperia is highly customizable and players can adjust a number of settings to control how party members behave in combat.IGN: Tales of Vesperia Hands-On (June 24, 2008)
