Spells in the Xbox 360 role-playing game Tales of Vesperia are referred to as Artes. Along with character-specific moves, they play an important tactical role in combat and build on each other as a player advances through the game. Artes allow you to attack enemies, as well as heal and strengthen allies. Each character has access to a unique set of Artes.

Burst Artes are an important set of Artes, in that they are key in executing Over Limits. As each character progress and learns new skills, they will subsequently unlock newer and more powerful Burst Artes. Every character has access five specific Burst Artes, each with their own necessary skills.
